As of September 1, the St. Elizabeth Parish Council will no longer accept building applications which do not have facilities for rain water harvesting. This comes two months after the Council passed a resolution on the matter.
The Council, in a release, confirmed that all future building applications must clearly indicate the roof water catchment and storage system.
The guideline states that the facility should provide minimum storage of 16 days’ supply or 10,000 gallons.
The move by the St. Elizabeth Parish Council comes in the wake of recent dry spells, which resulted in the Council spending millions of dollars to truck water to residents.
