Councillor for the Balaclava Division in North East St Elizabeth and Mayor of Black River Everton Fisher has launched a scholarship fund for needy students at the Balaclava Primary School.
Fisher who is a past student of the school launched the fund with a donation of $100,000 comprising contributions to the Mayor's Appeal Fund from corporate and private citizens in St Elizabeth. The fund will be named in honour of past principal Roy Waysome and former vice principal Blossom Harris.
Fisher told students, teachers and parents at Balaclava Primary that he would be engaging with other past students to upgrade furniture at the school, including desks and chairs.
