Minor Water Supply

MINOR WATER SUPPLY

The minor water supply systems is the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation and comprise rainwater catchment tanks, wayside tanks, entombed springs and gravity-fed systems attached to community standpipes.

This programme also includes the trucking of water to areas, which are not served by portable underground water supplies.
The Corporation need to ensure that:

  • Water quality meets the Ministry of Health standards
  • A sustainable source of water is identified for water supplies
  • Proper arrangements are made for water supply to new developments prior to Approvals
  • Persons and communities are educated about water conservation and efficient use of water

Persons and communities know the negative effects of untreated wastewater on their water supplies and the importance of treating wastewater before it is discharged into the environment
The St. Elizabeth Municipal Corporation is responsible for Thirty Four (34) Rainwater Catchment Tanks and Seven (7) Wayside Steel Tanks.
